Completion of Beginner 1 or permission from instructor required for registration in Beginner 2.
Format
Beginner 2 presents repertoire that builds off of the content of Beginner 1. Class begins with a stretch, followed by open step sequences danced in line. New partner work repertoire incorporates components of Beginner 1 - right turns, cross-body leads, veils, hand changes, basic steps in closed and open position - and adds to it: left turns, open-break turns, cross-body lead variation, and styling. Social dance practice with availability of one-on-one assistance is held at the end of each class. A second music folder is provided.

Salsa Musicality
In Salsa, timing, rhythm and dance flow is cued to the dancer by layered Afro-percussion based orchestral style music. Lead and follow between partners is created through the frame, points of connection, and tension. The flavor of Salsa derives from a core of Afro-Cuban, Afro-Caribbean, Afro-Latin and Iberian music and dance forms, enhanced by contributions from cultural phenomena around the world, including jazz, ballroom and various styles of pop music. Salsa is ecumenical, inspiring, dynamic and accessible. Beginner 2 Salsa will help you acquire the skills and sensibility necessary to survive and thrive on the dance floor, advance to higher levels, and form a basis for your own individual dance style.
Learning aids include syllabus, music folder and video.
Class size limit: 25. Partners rotate. Rotation not required for couples. Gender free: each student is free to learn the lead or follow role. New students register for Beginner 1. Beginner 2 for continuing students who have completed Beginner 1 or have instructor permission.
